Mr. Klugh is a proud graduate of Butler High School and has been teaching science for 26 years. He is also a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Secondary Education, certification in Biology. He enjoys the outdoors and traveling the world and has taken Butler Area students to Australia (2 times), New Zealand, the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador, and to the beautiful rainforests of Costa Rica. His next trip with students will be to Iceland in the summer of 2021! In his spare time, Mr. Klugh enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, beekeeping, great cuisine, traveling, listening and playing music (he plays the guitar), and spending time with his family.
Mr. Klugh has enjoyed helping hundreds of students at Butler appreciate science and the natural world over the years and has several classroom pets. Cleopatra is a docile corn snake that has resided in his classroom for over 20 years. Harley is an overly-plump bearded dragon that has made his home at Butler for over 10 years. Camilla is a beautiful, caramel-colored corn snake that is about 15 years old. Mr. Klugh is currently helping to run Butler Senior High's Fisheries Science Program in which the school is raising approximately 300 Rainbow Trout as part of the PA Fish Commission's Trout in the Classroom Program as well as approximately 200 Channel Catfish as part of the the Commission's Fish Hatchery Program in Schools.
Mr. Klugh loves to talk about the world of science, animals, or his travels around the world and also loves when students stop in to ask him a great science question! You will quickly realize that he loves his job and that he has a passion for teaching and learning. Mr. Klugh is looking forward to having another group of amazing Butler High School students this year and he hopes to see or talk to you soon!
