Tornado Jazz Ensemble Visits Elementary Schools Jazz Ensemble

The Golden Tornado Jazz Ensemble recently took their show on the road! The Jazz Ensemble visited Center Township, Northwest and Connoquenessing elementary schools where they performed for the students.

New Guidance Plan Initiative: Volunteers Needed for CAP Interviews

Butler Area School District has always maintained a commitment to supporting student development and growth. The School Counseling department’s mission statement upholds this pledge to student success through academic, social, emotional, and career awareness by means of a collaborative approach with students, parents, educators, and the community. It is our goal to develop life-long learners that are productive citizens in this changing global society. To this end, the School Counseling program in the Butler Area School District has adopted a comprehensive K-12 Guidance Plan to support college and career readiness for all students.

Growth Screening Program

The Pennsylvania school health regulations require that school nurses conduct height and weight measurements of students annually in an effort to determine a pattern of growth for each child. A Body Mass Index (BMI) for Age percentile was also calculated which is used as a guideline to help assess whether a person may be overweight or underweight.

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc. recently awarded over $20,000 to support Creative Teaching Grants. According to the GTSF, these grants fund teachers who go the extra mile to incorporate creative and innovative projects in the classroom.
