Have a fantastic summer! I miss you all and can't wait to see you again!
During Remote Learning, I will hold online office hours from 11-1pm on Monday Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Tuesday from 11-12p. Please email me at email@example.com.
My name is Sharissa Shatten and I am the elementary school counselor at Northwest Elementary School and Connoquenessing Elementary School. The 2019-2020 school year is my first year at Butler Area School District and I look forward to working with you and your children!
Previously, I worked in a K-8 building for 3 years. Prior to that, I worked with children in the mental health setting for 4 years, ranging from ages 2.5 to 18! My education background is an interesting journey! I attended a community college for a few years and decided to get an associates degree in Psychology. I then transferred to The University of Pittsburgh and received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and minored in Sociology. After working with children for multiple years, I decided to go back to school again and get my Masters! My Masters degree is from Carlow University, where the focus was on Licensed Professional Counseling, and I also got a certification in School Counseling. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Mindfulness and Yoga are also a big influence to my work with children as well. In 2018, I was certified in Children's Yoga and this year, I added on Teen Yoga. Outside of school, I teach yoga classes during the weekend. Mindfulness and meditation are a big part of learning coping strategies for many feelings and situations in their young lives.
My philosophy is that every child has the right to learn in an environment that encourages growth and expansion. All students can acquire the skills to be successful across their lifespan. All students will be provided with a comprehensive school counseling program that is aligned with their developmental needs and learning styles. Every student will have me here to help them in academic growth, career development and personal/social growth as needed.
Please reach out to me if you need anything! I am always available by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
My 2019-2020 schedule is as follows:
