We have opened up enrollment for our one-to-one device protection program.
Butler Area School District is partnering with One2One Risk Solutions to provide accident and loss protection for our district's one-to-one device program. Registering with One2One and purchasing a damage waiver will protect you from the full cost to repair or replace your child's district-issued device and limit your responsibility to per-occurrence deductible, should loss occur.
More information is available on our website. https://www.basdk12.org/Content2/1824
The deadline to enroll in the device protection program for the 2020-2021 school year is December 1, 2020.
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, I find myself giving thanks for all of you -- the people who make our school district and our community a place of excellence, success and hope.
This year has been unlike any other. Yet, despite the many challenges, all of you continue to show up to support our schools and our community.
My preference is to have our students physically in school where they can learn and grow with their teachers and peers. It’s not ideal to implement remote distance learning for all students. Quite frankly, it’s incredibly difficult for many. I want you to know that we understand the struggle and we are committed to doing everything we can to support you and your children while we are operating remotely.
Emily Brittain Community Partnership and Demonstration School students each received an amazing holiday basket thanks to Inspired Hearts and Hands (IH2) and MSA. This includes both students who are enrolled in the Traditional School Model and the Cyber School Model.
IH2 and MAS partnered with the school to make this incredible gift possible. A very special thank you to both IH2 and MSA for adopting Emily Brittain for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Check out all of the baskets!
Our food service department continues to prepare more than 10,000 meals each week for children. All BASD students and all children 18 and younger who reside in the Butler Area School District are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for free. If your family would like food service during our remote learning period, you may use this link to sign up, if you have not already. https://forms.gle/XqU3ktDzPFrYe6ob8

I want to begin by thanking everyone for your support and understanding as we transitioned to remote learning at the elementary level and continued remote learning at the secondary level. Unfortunately, we have already exceeded our thresholds to have live instruction next week. We will continue to operate our elementary and secondary schools as we did this week. It is also necessary to transition Center Avenue Community School to Remote Instruction.
There are several holiday resources available to families throughout Butler County. Click to see the list.
Dear BASD Elementary Families,
Today is our first day of live (synchronous) instruction for students in grades K-6. Our goal is to provide this instruction balancing best practices and flexibility. You should have received information from your child’s teacher regarding their schedule. We also wanted to share some additional information with you for a smooth transition.

Save the date! Butler Area School District's elementary families are welcome to participate in National Code Night on November 23rd at 7pm.
You can attend our district’s Family Code Night from home! This is a free, fun and valuable experience for you and your children. While anyone can participate, this is most appropriate for students in grades K-5. No sign up, no coding experience needed. Just join the LiveStream!

Unfortunately, the spread of COVID-19 continues to increase in our community. It is impacting more families and employees. This directly impacts our ability to operate our schools. The number of employees excluded because of COVID-19 continues to grow. At this point we have over 30 employees excluded from work. Additionally, based on the data we have already received, we have crossed the threshold of substantial spread of COVID-19 in our community this week.
