It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed principal of Northwest Elementary. Next year will be my tenth year with the Butler Area School District. My experiences include being the assistant principal at Center Township Elementary, and teaching at both the Butler Junior High School and McQuistion Elementary. Before coming to Butler, I taught in the Gallup-McKinley County School District in New Mexico for five years.
Retired Butler Area School District teachers Ken and Luann Cherry visited Northwest Elementary School to teach second grade students about the Revolutionary War. Mr. and Mrs. Cherry have been doing re-enactments for 30 years. Their granddaughter, Penny Cherry, is a second grade student at Northwest. She has been participating in re-enactments since she was a baby.
Thank you to the Cherry family for visiting Northwest!

Dr. Brian White, Superintendent of the Butler Area School District, presented his recommendation for the future organization of our schools on Monday, June 10, 2019. His recommendation is based on numerous factors, including community feedback that was gathered at the School Organization Community Forums last fall.
At this point, we are once again asking for community feedback. We hope you will take the time to review Dr. White's report and share your feedback by completing a short survey.
