Web Filter Information

If you have a device that isn't a district owned device, you will need to install a certificate to allow access to some web sites that utilize SSL/TLS on the district network.   

 

Please follow the directions below to install the certificate on your specific platform.

  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • Once the download completes, go to the download location and find the file named "iboss.basdk12.local.crt" and double click on it.  You may get a warning asking if you want to open this file, if so click "Open".
  • A window will open displaying the certificate information, click on "Install Certificate" in the window.
  • In the Certificate Import Wizard dialog click on "Local Machine" and click "Next".
  • In the next window, click on "Place all certificates in the following store" and click the browse button.   In the window that opens click on "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click "OK".
  • Click the "Next" button. 
  • Click "Finish".   You should see a message indicating that the import was successful.
  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • An "Install Profile" screen will appear, click on the "Install" button on the right.
  • A "Warning" screen will appear, click on "Install" on the top right corner.
  • You may need to enter your password to install the certificate.
  • You should now see that the certificate is trusted.   Click on "Done" on the top right corner.
  • In more recent versions of iOS, you may have to go to Settings->General->About->Certificate Trust Settings and enable the iboss.basdk12.local certificate.
  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • Go to "Settings", "Security", and "Install from Device Storage".
  • You can use the name "Butler iboss" and make sure Credential use says "VPN and apps".
  • Once you have it installed you can view the Certificate by clicking "Security", "Trusted Credentials", and then "User".
  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • Double-click on the .crt file and Keychain Access will open with the Add Certificate window.  You will be prompted for your administrator password.
  • Expand the Trust section and choose "Always Trust" for both "X.509 Basic Policy" and the "When using this certificate" pull-down.
  • Finally, click the "Always Trust" button. Provide the administrator password again and the System keychain will be updated. 
  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • Open Mozilla Firefox, click Open Menu, Options, Advanced, Certificates, and View Certificates.
  • Click the Authorities tab, and then click the import button.
  • Find the .crt file you downloaded and click Open.
  • Check the box next to Trust this CA to identify websites and click OK.
  • Click on the content filter certificate at the bottom of the page, to download it to your device.
  • Open the Chrome browser and type "chrome://settings/certificates" into the address bar.
  • Select Downloads to find the certificate file (you might have to change the file type to "All files").
  • Select the certificate file and click the Open button.
  • Check the options to "Trust this certificate for identifying websites".
  • Click the OK button.
