Dear Butler Area School District Parents/Guardians:
As we plan for the upcoming school year, one of our priorities is to give families the opportunity to choose a learning environment that best meets the needs of their individual situation. Therefore, we created our Learning Pathways Initiative.Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, Butler Area School District will offer learning pathways to help each individual student achieve success.
- Traditional School with Technology Integration
- Cyber Learning Program
- Hybrid Learning Program (grades 7-12 only)
In each scenario, students will be Butler Area School District students and have full access to the school district’s facilities and resources. The Learning Pathways are designed to be flexible. Families will be able to change a student’s path as needed throughout the year.
Our Cyber Learning Program is a full-time, completely free option for all Butler Area School District students in grades K-12. Students will have the opportunity to learn remotely without ever having to attend school in person. The Cyber Learning Program will provide students with the same high quality, innovative instruction they are used to receiving in the traditional classroom with the added flexibility of home-based schooling.
We also have a hybrid option available for students in grades 7-12. Students who elect to participate in the hybrid program will take some of their courses in person at school and other courses at home through the Cyber Learning Program.
A few months ago we asked for your input on which pathway would be best for your child. As we continue to plan for the upcoming year, we are asking families who would like to enroll their students in the Cyber Learning Program or Hybrid Learning Program to officially register.
Visit our website for more information, including upcoming dates and registration: www.basdk12.org/Content2/clp.
We recognize a lot of guidance for schools has been released from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania over the last few days. We are in the process of reviewing all guidelines and recommendations. At this time, we still intend to open our schools for traditional instruction in the fall for families who would like their children to attend school in person. If your child is already a registered Butler Area School District student who would like to attend school in person this year, you do not need to register.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
