Music
Welcome to the Music Department Website!
Butler Area School District boasts a music department that the community can be proud of! The department has received state recognition as top in the state on four occurrences, beginning with the Women's Ensemble (choir) being selected to perform at the PMEA state conference in 2010 and again in 2012. In 2015, the Butler Flute trio achieved the same honor, and in 2017, so did the newly formed percussion ensemble.
The bands and choirs have traveled and performed across the country. The band has been invited to perform in the Macy's Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade to name a few.
Smaller student-led chamber ensemble have sprouted across the department, and they perform throughout the community. Within music technology, Butler Area School District was ahead of its time, creating a recording studio class in 2003, and then expanding it to a second level pre-college course.
Our graduates are majors in sound engineering and working in the recording field.
We continue to innovate by teaching songwriting, history of rock n' roll, and to prepare students for college with music theory. Our guitar and piano class students learn proficiencies that will serve them in a lifetime of music making.
Our elementary music educators are trained experts in their respective fields to give us a sequential educational experience throughout the developmental stages of learning. Our music educators believe in practicing what we preach, and we are performing musicians who you might encounter performing in the Butler and greater Pittsburgh community.
We thank you for your support of music in the Butler community and hope you will be able to join us at our upcoming school performances. To stay informed on those performances, the following link accesses the Google Calendar with the most up to date events: Click Here
