BUTLER INTERMEDIATE HIGH SCHOOL
Stanley W. Sawa Chapter
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization that recognizes not only academic achievement but other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy. NJHS also elevates a school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. At Butler Area Intermediate High School any 8th-grade student can become eligible for membership into the Honor Society that maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Students are expected to complete community service hours, be active volunteers at Butler Area Intermediate High School, maintain scholastic eligibility, and uphold principles of morality and ethics.
Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NJHS activities. NJHS chapters are found in all 50 states, US Territories, and around the world. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
