Welcome to Butler Area School District food service department, managed by The Nutrition Group. The goal of the food service department is to provide a variety of appetizing and nutritiously balanced meals according to the guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Department of Education
The Butler Area School District believes that proper nutrition and wellness are key components for each student’s physical well-being, growth development and ability to learn. A variety of healthy choices that students enjoy are available on every serving line every day. The choices that are available feature a daily assortment of entrees, and are complemented with whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low fat dairy options.
Colorful and informative serving line signage provides important nutrition education information to assist students in choosing the right combination of foods for optimal nutrition benefit. We strive to help students develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.

Free and Reduced Meals Application
Children need healthy meals to learn. Butler Area School District offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast costs $1.25, lunch costs $2.25 for elementary, and $2.50 for secondary. Your child(ren) may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. This packet includes an application for free and reduced price meal benefits, and a set of detailed instructions. Below are some common questions and answers to help you with the application process.
