Autistic Support Program

DEFINITION: A program for students with the disability of autism who require services to address needs primarily in the areas of communication, social skills or behaviors consistent with those of autism spectrum disorders.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Butler Area School District provides itinerant autistic support services at the elementary and secondary level for students in their home schools. The Butler Area School District also provides autistic support services in the life skills support classrooms located at McQuistion Elementary School, Emily Brittain Elementary School, Butler Middle School, the Intermediate High School, and the Senior High School. Children must qualify for special education services to be eligible for placement in the Autistic Support Program. Transportation is provided to program locations by the District.
