Butler Football Update -- Jan. 16, 2020

Dear Butler Area School District Community:

I am pleased to share that PIAA District X has approved Butler Area School District’s football program to be an associate member for the next two (2) years. This means that we will not be independent. I would like to thank District X for this opportunity for our student athletes. We look forward to being a part of the District X football community. I would also like to thank the WPIAL for their support as we rebuild our football program.

Last week we had a joint meeting of Butler youth football and school football coaches as well as those who serve in support roles for both programs. I would like to thank everyone who attended. It was evident that the coaches all care deeply about the young people they work with and are committed to helping them achieve success both on and off the field. For many of the coaches, football has had a positive impact on their lives and they want the young people in our community to have the same opportunity.

It was a good first meeting and the beginning of a conversation that I hope will lead to more collaboration. We identified a number of things that need to be considered and addressed.  We are all committed to continuing to meet with the goal of developing the outstanding football program that our young people deserve.

I am very hopeful for the future of Butler Football! We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe our community can be successful. It is my intention to keep our community informed of our progress and next steps as we work to rebuild our football program at Butler Area School District.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Brian J. White, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
Butler Area School District
