A Message from the Superintendent

Dear BASD Families,

With covid cases on the rise in Butler County, I’d like to take a minute to remind you to please keep your child home from school if he or she is sick. I know it can be a hardship for families and also difficult for students who want to be in school, but if your child is experiencing covid symptoms – or any other illness – please refrain from sending them to school.

As a reminder, we have a daily health and wellness check available on our website. Please review this document each morning before sending your child to school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Since the onset of the pandemic, I’ve tried to communicate openly about the impact of covid on our schools. We also maintain a dashboard indicating how many active covid cases we have in our schools. I know many of you check this dashboard daily.

We currently try to tabulate all of the active cases. However, with the new CDC guidelines, it is getting confusing as to what is considered an “active case.” Beginning next week, we are going to transition to posting the number of covid cases that are reported to us each day. We will leave five days of data up on the site, so that our community can still have a full picture of our data.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Brian J. White, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
Butler Area School District
