It was a great day in Butler when Sergeant Major Fred Nichols surprised his family at school just two days before Thanksgiving. Sergeant Major Nichols had been deployed for a year with the National Guard and his family wasn't expecting him home for another two weeks.
His first stop was Northwest Elementary School where he surprised his wife, Courtney Nichols who is a teacher at Northwest. Then they went to the Middle School to surprise his youngest daughter, Ella.
Finally, Sergeant Major Nichols made it to the Intermediate High School where his twins, Grace and Noah were participating in an interview on stage. Unaware of the real reason why they were on stage, Grace asked Noah what he was thankful for. As Noah began to talk about his family, his father appeared from behind the stage.
Welcome home Sergeant Major Nicholas!
