The Butler BookStop made its first trip around the community on Monday, June 18. Two Butler trucks loaded with books ventured out into the community making a total of 13 stops along the way.
The entire community was invited to meet up with the BookStop and take home a new or gently used book for free! Approximately 150 children received books on Monday. We hope that number will grow each time the BookStop makes a run through our community.
The purpose of the program is to encourage reading over the summer. We also hope that encouraging kids to select a book that is of interest to them will generate excitement for reading.
We would like to thank everybody who visited the BookStop on Monday!
We would also like to extend a special thank you to all of the Butler faculty and staff members who volunteered their time to help children pick out books. We couldn’t have done it without you.
In addition, thank you to the Grace Youth and Family Foundation for providing drinks and snacks for the children who visited the BookStop.
Finally, thank you to all of the community members who donated books during our Book Drive this spring.
There will be two more opportunities to visit the Butler BookStop and take home a free book this summer! Save the Dates for July 10, 2018 and Friday, August 17, 2018.
