Dear Senior Parents and Guardians:
We have had to cancel school numerous times so far this year due to inclement weather. As you are probably aware, this requires us to have several make-up days, including shifting the last day of school for students to Thursday, June 6, 2019.
Many of you are wondering how that will impact our 2019 graduation ceremony. We have not yet officially announced the date for the 2019 graduation ceremony. We typically wait until the bulk of the winter weather is behind us so that we can be reasonably confident the date we announce will, in fact, be the date of graduation. The main reason is so that we can ensure our students meet the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s required number of instructional hours prior to graduating.
With that said, many of you already know that Butler Senior High School has a tradition of having graduation on the last day of school. At this point, our plan is to have graduation on the evening of June 6, 2019, which is currently the last day of school.
Unfortunately, more winter weather is still a realistic possibility. Please be aware that additional changes to our school calendar may impact the date of graduation.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility.
John Wyllie, Ed.D.
