K'Nex STEM Design Challenge

STEM Design Challenge

Several Butler Area School District teams participated in the MIU4 K’Nex STEM Design Challenge at the Intermediate High School.

The BASD teams were from the Intermediate High School, Middle School, Center Township and Northwest. Teams from other school districts within MIU4 also participated in the event.

Two of Butler teams won best design awards! Center Township won best design for grades 4-5 and the Intermediate High School won best design for grades 6-8.

The "challenge" was to move 3 objects at least 6 inches. It had to have at least one motor and couldn't exceed 1,600 pieces. The students had to have a journal documenting the process, blueprints, and a two minute presentation.

This was the first year teams from the elementary level participated in the K’Nex STEM Design Challenge. Congratulations to all who participated!
