Students Learn About Bats From Their Own Bat Cave

Mrs. Mumaw’s kindergarten students at Summit Elementary School recently learned all about bats!  They learned many facts about bats, read "Stellaluna" and compared bats to birds, and read bat books looking for sight words. They also talked about sequencing with the book "There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Bat."

The the class transformed their room into a “bat cave.”  They blacked out the windows and door and turned off the lights! They even dressed in black or brown like bats, listened to bat noises in our cave, and spent a lot of time using our flashlights to do work.
