A Message from the Superintendent -- March 25, 2021

High Wind Event

Dear BASD Families:

As you may be aware, the weather forecast for tonight into Friday calls for wind gusts exceeding 50 mph.  With rain also in the forecast, this could lead to power outages and connectivity issues.  As we plan for this forecasted severe weather and the potential impacts, we are sending learning materials home with students as a precautionary measure. Please note the learning activities will not require computer-based applications.

It is my intent to operate our schools in person on Friday, March 26th. However, in the event that the wind storm causes a power outage or otherwise impacts our ability to operate our schools, at least we will be prepared!  If we don’t need to use the learning materials at home on Friday, please send them back to school with your child.

Please assume we will operate in person on Friday. If we must shift to remote learning on Friday due to the wind storm, you will receive official notice from the school district (call, text, email, website, social media).

Thank you for your flexibility.

Sincerely,

Brian J. White, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
Butler Area School District
