Learning Pathway selection for Grades K-6

Grades K-5 Learning Pathway

Dear BASD Elementary (K-6) Families:

As we plan for the 2021-2022 school year, we want to ensure we are in the position to meet the individual needs of all of our students and families. This includes once again offering a traditional brick and mortar in person instruction learning pathway as well as the BASD Cyber Learning Program, which is fully online.

We anticipate that our elementary school will operate on a normal five day a week schedule that is inclusive of attending special area classes. However, that will require that six feet of social distancing is not mandatory.

Should COVID-19 still be pervasive and we are still experiencing many close contact exclusions, we would consider operating in the manner we are this year with six (6) feet of social distancing. This does limit our ability to deliver all subject material in the manner we feel is best.

It is important to have an accurate count of how many students will be enrolled at Butler Area School District in person and how many will be enrolled online so that we can plan our staffing accordingly. Please complete the following form to let us know which Learning Pathway you are selecting for your child. If you will have more than one elementary aged child (grades K-6) next year (2021-2022), please complete the form one time for each child.

Elementary Enrollment form for the 2021-2022 school year: https://forms.gle/eWsBPCPFEUt7kxju5

We are requesting that families who will have a student in grades K-6 during the 2021-2022 school year complete this form as a preliminary designation by Friday, April 16, 2021. We will be able to accommodate changes through May 14, 2021. Change requests can be made during that time period by contacting your child’s building principal.

Families who complete this survey and provide us notification of their pathway designation will be guaranteed a spot for their child in whichever Learning Pathway they select. All non respondents will be assumed to be selecting a traditional brick and mortar in person instruction learning pathway.

We are staffing our schools based on the Learning Pathway you select for your child. Unfortunately, we will not have tremendous flexibility to change Learning Pathways during the coming school year. We will always try to accommodate parent requests, but we do not have endless resources to accommodate changes and we are not able to overcrowd classes to allow changes to Learning Pathways. In the event of an extraordinary circumstance, we will work with families to meet the needs of the student.

We recognize some families may not be sure which pathway they would prefer for their children for next year. If you have any questions about which path is right for your child academically, please contact his or her principal.
