The transition from preschool to kindergarten is a big event! To help students and parents prepare for the change, the Butler Area School District offered a Kindergarten Club over the summer.
Students throughout the district had the opportunity to attend the Ready Freddy Kindergarten Club the week of August 9-13th. Throughout the week, incoming kindergarten students had the opportunity to get to know new teachers, meet new friends, visit new classrooms and learn new school rules.
Incoming kindergarten students had a lot of fun engaging in new experiences that they will encounter in kindergarten. Students participated in read alouds that promote a love of reading, while also expanding their vocabulary and content knowledge. They also began to work on their math and counting skills. And, of course, the peer to peer connection and building friendships were important themes throughout the week. Parents also received take home activities encouraging quality parent-child interaction.
"Ready Freddy Kindergarten club set a strong foundation for our students as it helped them to recognize their own individual strengths and uniqueness, build confidence as learners, develop positive social/emotional skills and form relationships," said Mrs. Rachel Faulk, Reading Specialist at Center Township and one of the Ready Freddy Kindergarten Club teachers.
We can’t wait to watch our young learners learn and grow as they embark on their educational journey! Wishing all of our new kindergarten students their best year yet!
