A Message from the Superintendent -- Sept. 30, 2021

A Message from the Superintendent

Dear BASD Families:

We were made aware of a general threat to schools on September 30th that was posted online. Although the threat did not specifically identify Butler Area School District or any of our schools,  it appears that it may have been posted from somebody in our area.

We were informed by local law enforcement and all of our school police officers are aware of the threat. We have asked our school police officers and local law enforcement to be vigilant and increase their patrols around and at our schools.

At this time, all of our schools will continue to operate on a normal schedule today. If law enforcement feels additional actions are needed at any point, we will follow their recommendations.

The school district takes all threats seriously. Should this be the genesis of one of our students, we will engage in all appropriate disciplinary action under the student code of conduct and under Pennsylvania State Law.  Additionally restitution for additional costs to the school district and law enforcement will be pursued.

If you see or hear any disturbing statements involving our schools or students, please remember to immediately report it to the school district and local law enforcement.

Sincerely,

Brian J. White, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
