BASD Senior Helps Coordinate Community Event

Peyton Pry

Butler High School Senior Peyton Pry is helping to organize a 5K Race through Preston Park on October 24th.  Pry, a student representative on the Butler Township Board of Commissioners, is looking for student volunteers to help out with a handful of jobs the day of the race.  She is also hoping students sign up to participate in the race sponsored by the Friends of Preston Park Foundation.

The eighty-seven-acre Preston Park, located on South Eberhart Road, was formerly known as Preston Laboratories.  Dr. Frank Preston and his wife, Jane owned the land which is now maintained by The Friends of Preston Park Foundation.  The Foundation’s goal is to introduce community members and visitors to this beautiful, expansive park.  The 5K Race is one of the ways they hope to attract more people.  Race sponsorship contributions will help maintain the park and make improvements.

This is the second year that Pry has been representing Butler High School on the Board of Commissioners.  She attends meetings twice a month and serves as a liaison between the school and the board.  Pry has worked on several projects including taking the lead on various donation drives, recruiting volunteers to help with township events, and searching for ways for student clubs and groups can get involved in the community.  Contact Peyton Pry at peyton.pry@student.basdk12.org to volunteer or participate in the Preston Park 5K Race.
