Fourth grade students at Summit Elementary School designed two rain barrels as part of the Barrels by the Bay Three Rivers Project.
The Barrels by the Bay School Program provides the opportunity to educate students about the environment while they are painting the rain barrels. Barrels by the Bay provides schools with the rain barrels and supplies, including painting supplies, environmental teaching materials, and the supplies needed to install the rain barrel at no charge.
Each fourth grader had the opportunity to submit a Summit or Butler related design for the barrels. The students voted on their favorite designs and created two rain barrels. The winning designs were created by Lily Graef and Wyatt Irwin.
The barrels were on display at the FAB Showcase on Saturday, April 13. They will then be used in Summit Elementary courtyard/outdoor class once that outdoor space is complete.
Thank you to Ms. Grantz for coordinating this unique opportunity for Summit students!
