School Board Approves Full Day Kindergarten

The Butler Area School Board voted to approve full day kindergarten starting in the 2019-2019 school year.

Based on significant research at the local, state and national level, we believe that full day kindergarten will significantly help improve our students’ academic achievement and better prepare students for first grade and beyond. Not only does full day kindergarten help students build a stronger academic foundation, it helps strengthen their social and emotional skills as well. Learn more>

All children who are registered to attend kindergarten will be automatically enrolled into the full day program at their local elementary school.  Parents are not required to take any additional action.

However, children who are registered to attend kindergarten during the 2018-2019 school year will have the option to attend only half day, if preferred. This option will only be available in year one of the full day kindergarten program (2018-2019 school year). Parents must schedule a meeting with their child’s principal to make arrangements.

We are excited to be able to offer full day kindergarten to our families!
