January 25, 2017 Update

DEP VISITS SUMMIT TOWNSHIP ELEMENTARY

Today, DEP representatives visited the Summit Township Elementary School site in order to meet with District officials and to familiarize themselves with the building. The District response team headed by Dr. Pettigrew met at the site with the representatives.

DISTRICT RECEIVES CWM ENVIRONMENTAL LAB ANALYSIS REPORTS

The District has received a lab analysis report dated January 12, 2017, accompanied by a second report generated on January 24, 2017, from CWM Environmental, Inc., of Kittanning, and Suburban Testing Labs of Reading, Pennsylvania. These reports were initiated by the District's prior water officer and the District cannot attest to the validity of the reports in question. They have, however, been provided to DEP by the testing laboratory. The District is in the process of having new tests taken under the direction of Gannett Fleming Engineers as of this week. Those test results will be disclosed after they are received.

PORTABLE HAND WASHING SINKS DELIVERED

The School District has obtained and installed portable hand washing sinks for use throughout the School. The units were received and installed Wednesday, January 25,2017. The installation was approved by Dr. Pettigrew on behalf of the District.

DISTRICT WORKING TO FINALIZE BUTLER HEALTH SYSTEM TESTING

The District is working closely with Butler Health System to finalize the contract to provide for lead testing for students and staff. The contract will be posted and details provided as soon as the agreement is completed.
